Design Psychology Suite (All Four Volumes)
Design Psychology 1: Everyday Design
If you can't figure out how to turn on the faucet in a hotel, or when faced with unfamiliar stoves or light switches, even the brightest person will be at a loss. Donald A Norman boldly pointed out that it is not that you are too stupid, but that the design of the item does not take into account the needs and psychology of the user. Although poor designs are everywhere, it is not difficult to design products that are easy to understand, easy to use, and pleasant. The updated edition of "Design Psychology" has a powerful effect on good design, constantly reminding us why some products can meet users 'needs, while some products can make users very frustrated.
In the updated edition of "Design Psychology", Dr. Norman has always emphasized the people-oriented design philosophy and introduced multidisciplinary methods such as cognitive psychology and behavioral science into design. It not only focuses on reflecting on the trouble caused by problems that arise during the design process, but also focuses on solving problems, using these basic principles to help designers find real problems and their solutions. On the one hand, Dr. Norman analyzed from multiple angles, updated a large number of cases to remind designers to pay attention and find people's real needs; on the other hand, Norman also tried to transform the public into excellent observers, who could not only observe bad designs, but also slowly learn to appreciate excellent designs. Combining good design principles with good observation is a powerful tool.
In the updated edition of Psychology of Design, Dr. Norman adds more than half the material, revising and supplementing each chapter to varying degrees. In particular, two new chapters have been added: Chapter 6,"Design Thinking" and Chapter 7,"Design in the Business World." In these chapters, Dr. Norman discusses human-centered design, Norman's Law, design challenges, the pros and cons of disruptive versus incremental innovation, and the future of design from two perspectives. Norman also opened a Mooc course on his personal homepage, inviting industry * experts to explain the content of the book chapter by chapter.
Design Psychology 2: Living with Complexity
In this book, Dr. Norman explores why our lives require complexity, not simplicity, and design enables complex lives. In clear and relaxed writing, the author explains to readers why what we long for is not simple. When the design of objects is understandable, manageable, and pleasant, in moderate circumstances and at the right time, what we desire is complexity. In fact, through design based on good communication, complexity can be managed to produce practical products, forming ideal, people-centered designs.
Dr. Norman tells us that only by looking at the panoramic view of the entire human activity in nature, reality and in daily life can we observe real people doing practical work in a real, natural environment. * Finally,"Design Psychology 2: Living with Complexity" is a man's declaration that he hopes to achieve a better world through design.
Design Psychology 3: Emotional Design
In order to explain the role played by emotional factors in the field of design, this book explores in detail three different levels of emotional elements: instinctive (the appearance and texture of the product), behavioral (the function of the product), and reflective (personal feelings and thoughts), and proposes design principles to respond to different levels. For the service industry, which is currently paying more and more attention to customized and interactive design, emotional design will be the key to future development.
Dr. Norman's best-selling book,"Design Psychology 1: Everyday Design", explains why daily necessities should not be confusing, irritating, and frustrating, and "Design Psychology 3: Emotional Design" explains why they must also be charming, pleasing, and fun.
Design Psychology 4: Future Design
This book is Donald? A? Norman followed "Design Psychology 1: Everyday Design","Design Psychology 2: Living with Complexity" and "Design
Another masterpiece after the Psychology of Computing 3: Emotional Design.
